View DiplomaThe gravitational battery is another one of my projects, which I created as a student at the Informatics Academy Brasov.
This project was inspired by a study of ancient pulley mechanisms, and the thought of using mechanical energy to store and release power prod uced by renewable sources.
A complex gear mechanism will ensure the lifting of a heavy weight by transforming electrical energy produced by photovoltaic cells into kinetic energy. The gears engage to lift the weight but disengage when the weight is released, while at this time a generator produces electricity. Hence while the sun is up and energy is being produced, the weight is lifted, whereas during the night the gravitational battery releases energy by allowing the weight to fall to its initial position.
This project received 1st place in the 2022 National DigitalNerds BlockMaster contest.
